Did you know that numerous well-known laundry detergents contain toxins?

Many of the chemicals used for their fragrances are filled with carcinogens.

This is one of the main reasons laundry detergent was our 1st item we replaced in our household and I love this recipe.

I doubled the recipe, and it lasts our family of four up to 6 months. (doubled below)

I use Castile lavender soap in this recipe for added fragrance, which is my favorite, but you can use any essential oil you prefer.

Ingredients

  • 5 gallon bucket

  • Water

  • 1 cup washing soda

  • 1 cup baking soda (aluminum free)

  • 1 1/2 cups Lavender Castile soap

  • Essential oils

  • Glass jar

Let’s Get Started-

  1. Measure out 1 cup washing soda and pour into bucket.

  2. Add just enough hot water to cover the washing soda until dissolved.

  3. Measure out 1 cup baking soda and add. Stir well to dissolve.

  4. Fill up your bucket to the top with hot water, leaving 1/2 inch of room on top.

  5. Add Castile soap into the bucket last.

  6. Add in essential oils to your liking (30 or so drops)

  7. Stir everything together and pour into glass jar.

  8. Pour 1/3 cup of laundry detergent right into your dirty clothes and wash as normal.

    Notes:

I use a bucket that's just for my laundry detergent.

The laundry detergent will get clumpy as it sits for a while which is normal, its the soap separating, you can mix it up if it bothers you or leave as is.
